Strategic planning advice for city- centre Metro extension Working as sub-consultant to Mott Macdonald, we were instructed to provide strategic planning advice for the Birmingham City Centre Extension (BCCE) of the Midland Metro. The fact that the existing line did not reach the city centre had been identified as a restricting factor on usage of the system. The proposed scheme aims to provide a high quality, reliable light rail system that serves key destinations and civic spaces in the heart of the city. We also acted as planning agents for the discharge of conditions prior to commencement of works.
