DUQUESNE LIGHT COMPANY PITTSBURGH, PA SlipNOT ® Steel Plates Installed as a Safety Retrofit for High Traffic Loading Ramps THE SITUATION In early January 2009 Duquesne Light, energy provider of nearly a half million customers in Southwestern Pennsylvania, contacted SlipNOT ® Metal Safety Flooring because of an extremely slippery loading ramp at their facility. The existing ramp consisting of slick tread plate caused several “close calls.” Duquesne Light wanted to prevent any close calls from becoming a dangerous reality. The four pieces of diamond plate were installed at the bottom of a high traffic pitched loading ramp where water gathered causing a slick walking surface.
