ARCHITECTURE " PROCESS ENGINEERING " COST CONSULTANCY " PROJECT MANAGEMENT Stamford Endowed Schools Science Laboratory The Situation An independent school required new science facilities to accommodate increasing pupil numbers and to house new equipment that had recently been purchased. The existing laboratory facilities were to be retained and required refurbishment. The Challenge Alterations and refurbishment of the chemistry department had to be undertaken in a two phase approach, spread across two summer holidays to avoid disruption to the normal school routine. An additional laboratory within the existing oor area was needed. The project required the controlling of existing asbestos and timely project management to ensure that construction work was completed within the holiday period
