BELK GYMNASIUM CHARLOTTE, NC Stainless Steel Nosings on Lobby Stair Cases at University of North Carolina THE SITUATION The Belk Gymnasium at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, is home to a wide variety of activities, resources, and opportunities. The complex houses basketball, volleyball, badminton, racquetball/squash/walleyball courts, as well as a fitness center, cycling studio, swimming pool, and group fitness studio. The gym has been around since 1970 when it was built to accommodate the few hundred students attending the college. Now, with around 26,000 students enrolled, the gym needed to be brought up to date.
