SR 80 from CR 833 to US 27 and SR 80/US 27 Interchange | Volkert Location: Hendry County, FL Client: Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) The project was for the widening of two miles of SR 80 from two lanes to four lanes, and the design of a new interchange to replace the existing SR 80/US 27 at grade intersection. The final typical section included two 12-foot lanes in each direction separated by a 64-foot grass median. Improvements included upgrading the existing intersection of SR 80 and US 27 to an elevated “T” interchange, which addressed safety concerns with the existing intersection, including sight distance constraints, high running speeds, and grade issues.
