Weather data is not only used by the tower but is also sent across Portsmouth to the council; meaning information can be shared throughout the town. About the Spinnaker Tower The Spinnaker Tower is situated on the waterfront at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth. The iconic building was completed in 2005 and offers visitors 350 degree views of Portsmouth Harbour, including the HMS Victory and Naval Base, as well as the Isle of Wight and the Solent Forts, and was built to encourage visitors and tourism in Portsmouth.
