Spectris Advance HP – controlling combustion in process heaters
Fired process heaters are integral to hydrocarbon processing. They react gas and air together to produce extremely high temperatures which are transferred to potentially highly flammable process fluids via heat exchangers. This reaction can be optimised by controlling the fuel-air ratio. Challenge To provide a reliable, fast-response control system to optimise combustion control in gas-fired heaters used for hydrocarbon processing applications. Solution Servomex provided a combined solution using both Zirconia and Tunable Diode Laser technologies to measure oxygen, combustibles and carbon monoxide. Results By using both technologies, the client was able to operate the heaters at optimum efficiency, while adding a key carbon monoxide safety measurement. Case study Case study: Serv
