HEALDSBURG MEMORIAL BRIDGE HEALDSBURG, CA SlipNOT ® Galvanized Steel Expansion Joint Covers Help Extend Life of Historic Bridge THE SITUATION The Healdsburg Memorial Bridge was originally built in 1921 to carry the historic Redwood Highway across the Russian River in Sonoma County, CA. The building of US Route 101 diverted a lot of traffic away from the bridge, leaving it to mostly local traffic. In 1990, the city government of Healdsburg started planning a replacement bridge, which was not received well by the community. This caused the new bridge plans to be scrapped. In April 2011, the bridge was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places, followed by plans for restoration in December 2011.
