Seattle Channel is a government-access cable television channel dedicated to keeping the public informed. Supported by cable television franchise fees, Seattle Channel primarily covered city council meetings when it first launched. The organization expanded its programming in the 1990’s, changed over to digital in the 2000’s, and then upgraded to HD. Today, Seattle Channel produces award-winning programming including a weekly public-affairs show, live government meetings and press conferences, in-depth weekly arts coverage, a weekly news/lifestyle magazine show, community features, and panel discussions.
