Safe Recovery of a 1.3-Tonne Pig Launch Tray under Live Pipeline Conditions

When a 1.3-tonne pig launch tray became lodged in a 48” gas export pipeline bend, STATS engineered a bespoke Grabber Tool with pressure-rated deployment, hydraulic controls, cameras, and a temporary launcher door. Following full-scale and pressurized trials, the tool successfully retrieved the tray in 7 hours 40 minutes under live 100-bar conditions. The project demonstrated STATS’ ability to deliver safe, innovative, first-time solutions to complex pipeline challenges.
