Reading Station City Reading Country United Kingdom The British university town of Reading with its population of 150,000 cannot really be called a metropolis. It is, however, a veritable transportation hub serving London and boasts some impressive numbers: 800 trains pass through the town every day, with 17 million commuters a year. A challenge for the urban infrastructure, and one HOCHTIEF Solutions is currently tackling by expanding the station to accommodate the growing numbers of travelers. Two new station entrances to the north and south, new connecting levels between them, and five additional platforms are part of this contract. Thanks to sophisticated construction logistics, the work will not interfere with regular train services.
