The goal of the recent restoration of Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay, New York, the family home of our 26th President, was to return it to the 1901-1919 era when Theodore Roosevelt, his wife Edith, and their six children resided there. After TR’s death in 1919, his widow lived there alone until the 1940s, updating the house to meet her needs and understandably, giving away some furnishings to relatives.
