Pocket Heater Reduces Costs and Downtime
A large South Dakota electric power plant needed to upgrade the 10-year-old tank heater system on an external storage tank that provides lube oil for the facility’s natural gas turbines. The turbines start up more efficiently when the lube oil is warmer, between 70° and 90° F, so the heater plays a critical function in the cold weather months to ensure that the system operates properly. The facility hoped to. install the new heater without having to drain the 3,000-gallon tank, which would have added the expense of an outside contractor for temporary storage, plus systemdowntime. - Chromalox TMI flanged immersion pocket heater fit into the same flange configuration as the existing heater. This model is used specifically for corrosive solution and gas heating.
