Orlando International Airport South Airport Automated People Mover Complex | HKS Architects Orlando, Florida, USA Design Architect: SchenkelShultz Architecture The Challenge HKS designers worked with SchenkelShultz to produce one of the first multimodal airport terminals in the United States to provide seamless connectivity of ground, rail and air transport. The greenfield project’s concept called for creating a state-of-the-art facility that references the grand rail terminals of the past while encompassing the modern interpretation of what the airport calls the “Orlando Experience.” The Design Solution The Automated People Mover (APM) and ITF Intermodal Terminal Facility (ITF) consists of 475,000 square feet across three levels.
