North Island Naval Base: Compressed Air System Rehabilitation

North Island Naval Base: Compressed Air System Rehabilitation

Pages 1 Pages

Location: Coronado Island, California Situation: The naval air station has a 6" steel pipe line that delivers compressed air to start fighter jet engines. These pipes run 4 feet beneath the concrete runway and split into eight 3" risers. The line had multiple leaks, which prevented the compressors from maintaining adequate air pressure. Solution: Nu Flow’s innovative technology allowed technicians to retrofit the compressed air line without causing destruction or disruption to the naval base. We used a hybrid solution, which included our Pull-in-Place structural liner to cover breaks in pipe and two layers of our blown-in epoxy coating. Where life interacts with infrastructure.
