Newfoundland Virtual Weigh Stations Project Description: IRD supplied and installed four (4) Virtual Weigh Station Systems for Newfoundland Department of Transportation & Works. Two sites are located near St. John’s and two sites are located on the west side of Newfoundland. Additionally, IRD hosts a server under contract to supply data and vehicle images to the Department. These Virtual Weigh Stations feature the iSINC WIM Electronics, Quartz Sensors, License Plate Readers and Side View Cameras. The Systems are used by Newfoundland to analyze and identify high frequency periods of overweight, non-compliant vehicles. Once identied, enforcement ocials can be deployed during these time periods to maximize the eciency of catching non-compliant vehicles.
