Fluid Codes Confidential 1 Nozzle -Shell Junction Study • By using finite element analysis the stress concentration region of the Nozzle -Shell junction of a horizontal pressure vessel was determined and the reason was analyzed. • Sub-modeling Technique in ANSYS was used for the study to accurately predict the stress concentration • The result reveals high stress concentration is developed at this location due to abrupt change in the geometry and the consequent change in stress flow.
