National Center for Asphalt Technology Test Track | Volkert Location: Auburn, AL Client: Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) The National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) test track provides a venue to test materials, designs, and construction methods that maximize pavement performance and minimize repairs without sacrificing safety. The track, on 109 acres of land donated by Auburn University, has been responsible for improvements to asphalt pavements across the county for more than two decades. Nine state departments of transportation from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Indiana, and Oklahoma, as well as the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), contributed to the project.
