MUNICH GERMANY A structural change has been taking place in trade and industry in Munich since the 1970s: factory spaces are losing their original function and are becoming vacant for new uses. This also occurred to the former Agfa industrial estate. Due to its position and size, it offered great potential for the development of this urban district and for enhancing its status by becoming a modern residential district. Twelve hundred apartments with “exciting architecture” were built over a ten-hectare area. Design demands of an equally high quality were placed on the play and recreation areas: a combination of “exciting design” and high levels of functionality.
