In Vietnam – a country with a coastline of 3,260 km, the central government has plans to place more emphasis in its maritime economy with the hope that it will account for more than 50 percent of the GDP by 2020. Enhancing capacity of current seaports, as well as building new seaports, is fundamental investment to boost the maritime sector’s contribution to GDP which is currently estimated at approximately 30 percent.
