Monitoring Radiation Levels in a Nuclear Power Plant

Monitoring Radiation Levels in a Nuclear Power Plant The Challenge A nuclear power plant wanted to modernize the communications system for their radiation monitors, replacing their analog PDP11-based system with fiber optics and IP-based protocols. But the existing system included 86 radiation monitors that used 30 mA current loop technology. Replacing them would have been very expensive. The Solution It was clear that a pre-wired, pre-tested, turn-key solution would eliminate many project risks. So B&B Electronics developed and custom-built a panel containing hardware that converted the proprietary Current Loop communications to Ethernet and included the dual fiber communications links required for system redundancy. Why B&B Electronics? B&B Electronics designs and builds rugg
