The Bengalla Mining Company is a joint venture ownership with Wesfarmers, New Hope Group, Mitsui and Taipower. It operates an open cut coal mine, using a dragline, truck and excavator method for extraction. After being washed and prepared for sale, the coal is loaded onto trains for transportation 130km to the port of Newcastle where it is shipped to international customers.
