In its inaugural year, the festival, which took place at Berlin’s now-recreationally focused Tempelhof Airport, featured a 360° virtual-reality live stream that was broadcast using the Wowza Streaming Cloud service. The action was captured with a series of cameras and each was live-streamed, allowing users to select what they wanted to view and when. Not only was the live-stream endeavor massive in scale; Sony was under tight time constraints to make the project a go.
