Trusted to deliver Case study // Lochluichart track washout CLIENT CONTRACT VALUE DATE COMPLETE Network Rail Emergency Response August 2017 THE CHALLENGE Heavy rain in the popular tourist area of Gorstan, forced police to close the main A832 road between Achnasheen and Gorstan due to a section of the road being washed away. Hundreds of tonnes of soil and debris came down the embankment onto the railway infrastructure, resulting in culverts being channelled down towards the track support zone creating a mud slide, which in turn washed away the ballast under the live rail track.
