LC/MS Applications in Clinical Research
White Paper Abstract In the context of clinical research, selecting an instrumental platform can carry different stakes than outside of the biomedical space. Biological patient samples are often irreplaceable and limited in quantity, with critical biomedical research dependent upon samples that are frequently obtained at specific points during progression of disease or after administration of a medication. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS) has been established as a robust approach in routine chemical analysis, but its suitability for clinical applications may not be readily apparent despite the versatility of LC/MS systems. This misconception may be due in part to a lack of awareness regarding how preparative procedures can extract or place analytes into the appropri
