Kaiserschleuse lock in Bremerhaven
City Bremerhaven Country Germany An international port dating from 1897 cannot possibly be operated efficiently today without a few changes. That’s why HOCHTIEF Solutions, as technical leader, was commissioned to build the new Kaiserschleuse lock in Bremerhaven. It can accommodate today’s large ships and is hence well- equipped to master the challenges of the future. Since mid- 2011, big automobile transport ships have again had direct access to the port. The new, innovative vertical sliding/rolling gate has fewer moving parts and is thus easier to maintain. This goes hand in hand with a reduction in the operating costs of the lock and the locking times for the ships.
