Isolate Gas Bubbles in 30-in Conductor and Provide a Base for P&A Cement Plug
WELL INTERVENTION DRILLING & COMPLETIONS UNCONVENTIONAL RESOURCES RESERVOIR OPTIMIZATION Isolate Gas Bubbles in 30-in Conductor and Provide a Base for P&A Cement Plug TAM Inflatable Packer (TIP) and Hydraulic Release Location: Offshore Nigeria CHALLENGE: An operator needed to isolate gas bubbles in a 30-in. conductor to prevent gas migrating through the plug and abandonment cement plug. SOLUTION: The operator cut and pulled 20-in. casing from 245 ft. A TAM 4 1/4-in. x 14 1/2-in. TIP Inflatable Bridge Plug was deployed and successfully set at 235 ft. RESULTS AND BENEFIT: The gas bubbles stopped one minute after the plug was set. The plug was released from hydraulically and cement displaced on top of the plug in one run in the well, providing an effective barrier in the 30-in. conductor
