CHALLENGE In 2015, Cyclone Pam devastated the island of Tanna, destroying 68% of rainwater har- vesting structures and 70% of existing water infrastructure. Without infrastructure, water distributed through relief agenicies and rain- water collected in tanks provided residents their only supply of water. Unfortunately, cap- tured rainwater is contaminated by sulphur dust from the island’s volcano before ever reaching community cisterns.
