Improving the Security Posture of a Consolidated Utilities Energy Management System

A consolidated utilities provider sought to strengthen the security posture of its NERC CIP‑compliant energy management system as part of a broader effort to modernize and harden its power transmission infrastructure. The project required secure unidirectional and bidirectional transfers of ICCP, SFTP, HTTPS, SQL database, and PI System historian data between multiple production and test high‑availability clusters across two geographically separated environments. By integrating data diodes and advanced security tools, the organization enhanced protection of critical interfaces, improved data flow integrity, and reinforced its overall cybersecurity posture while maintaining reliable grid operations.
