Case Study
Idaho National Laboratory
CUSTOMER BACKGROUND Idaho National Laboratory (INL) was established in southeastern Idaho in the first years of the Atomic Age. Over seven decades, it has supported the U.S. Department of Energy’s missions in nuclear and energy research, science, and national defense. One of its three main complexes, the Advanced Test Reactor, is a DOE National Scientific User Facility and home to the world’s most advanced nuclear test reactor. The other complexes consist of Materials and Fuels—which focuses on nuclear fuel R&D, and Research and Education—where scientists working in dozens of labs conduct research in robotics, genetics, biology, chemistry, metallurgy, computational science, and hydropower. INL’s three complexes work independently of each other, but they still need to share accurate
