I-40/240 Memphis, Tennessee SSR provided construction engineering inspection oversight for the modi?cation of the I-40/I-240 interchange from I-240 north of Walnut Grove Road to north of Covington Pike including 0.3 miles west of the interchange to Sycamore View at I-40. The project calls for the construction of two new ?yover bridges, grading, drainage, retaining wall construction, and paving. The project is 5.7 miles in length and is the largest single project for TDOT with a construction cost of $110 million. The original plan for I-40 was to go straight through the city of Memphis, but in the 1970s, it was decided that I-240 would instead direct the tra?c around the city.
