Dr Jed O. Kaplan leads the TERRACES Research Group at The University of Hong Kong, where his team studies how land cover shapes climate change and how shifts in climate affect land use, hydrology, soil, the atmosphere, and the built environment. Their work explores major unresolved questions in global environmental change, including the influence of climate on wildfires, the ability of tropical forests to absorb CO₂, and the impacts of deforestation. The group investigates complex interactions and feedbacks to better understand environmental change in the past, present, and future.
