In February 2020, the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department needed a secure remote desktop solution for more than 700 employees as COVID-19 quarantines loomed. Their IT group had previously used Apache Guacamole for limited IT tasks, but scaling it required a commercial product with professional support. They deployed three instances of Keeper Connection Manager, the commercial build of Guacamole, enabling secure two-factor authentication, browser-based access, and load balancing for strong performance. Within one week, all employees were working remotely with near-normal capacity, maintaining security and flexibility for future crises or remote work needs.
