Hotel Indigo, Durham
BACKGROUND Set in former university offices at Old Shire Hall, the Hotel Indigo, Durham is a venue of Victorian luxury. Brass etchings line its lobby walls, marble tiles adorn floors and stained glass dapples the light in its Rotunda Bar. It’s like stepping back into the Middle Ages. THE CHALLENGE The stunning, Grade II 1890 listed building boasts period features such as tiled marble staircase, wood panelling and stained-glass windows. Chantelle Lighting was commissioned to provide lighting for the 100-cover Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill, in the 83-bed hotel. The lighting needed to reflect the existing features, creating a warm traditional feel throughout, with a slight modern edge. THE SOLUTION Taking pride of place above the restaurant is a bespoke multi ring f
