This case study describes how the Superintendence of Health Regulation (SRS) of El Salvador embedded security into its entire software development lifecycle. As a digitally advanced public institution, SRS manages highly sensitive health and regulatory data through dozens of in-house applications. To protect citizens and maintain trust, the organization adopted a DevSecOps approach, integrating automated security testing and centralized monitoring into development pipelines. This shift significantly improved security maturity, reduced costs, and increased compliance with international standards. The initiative enabled SRS to deliver faster, safer digital services while defending against large-scale cyberattacks.
