Project highlights Client challenge When an oil and gas company purchased an industrial conglomerate, they soon discovered that one of the packaged properties posed several environmental challenges. During World War II, a manufacturer located on this industrial site alongside the Hudson River had produced heat resistant electrical cables that used polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). PCBs were identified in the onshore soils and Hudson River sediments, resulting in an environmental legacy for the new property owner. During our preliminary design of the remedy, new data indicated that the remedy was not constructible as planned, would require extraordinary measures, and our client would also incur additional unexpected costs.
