Haileybury Almaty School
Haileybury Almaty School is the first British private school to open in Central Asia. As an “all-through school,” Haileybury Almaty provides a British education and Western curriculum in Kazakhstan’s largest city. The team was challenged to design a school that would celebrate a progressive, vividly inspiring and open-minded educational environment rooted in the bedrock of Kazakhstan’s multicultural richness. The award-winning design responds to several major challenges, including a site in the foothills of the highly seismically active Tien Shan mountains, a wide climatic range, and a 2,425-mile supply chain across Turkey, the Caspian Sea and Kazakh desert.
