FORTICRETE WORKS Demolition of Forticrete Works Ibstock Brick Ltd October 2010 - December 2010 Over 7 weeks the 10-acre Forticrete Works Site has been levelled and cleared by utilising a combination of both mechanical and explosive demolition techniques. The project involved demolition of all plant structures ranging from manufacturing and warehousing buildings to the offices and weighbridge, including the explosive demolition of 2 x 80' high silos which were heavy duty steel structures. Given the thickness of the steel the decision was taken that the quickest and safest way of bringing them down was to use explosives.
