FHWA Bridge Inspections | Volkert Location: Nationwide Client: Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Volkert was selected for five-year contracts in 2005 and again in 2010 by the Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division (EFLHD) of FHWA to provide National Bridge Inspection Standard (NBIS) and Pontis element-level inspections for structures at national parks, battlefields, monuments, historic sites, parkways, and other Federal facilities. Volkert provides inspections of culverts, tunnels, retaining walls, an/or bridges comprised of concrete, masonry, timber, and/or steel, including fracture-critical and fatigue-prone details. Inspections require the use of specialized equipment such as snoopers, man-lifts, specialized boats, and tracked man-lifts, as well as underwater inspections by divers.
