National Ice Centre The National Ice Centre complex was the UK’s ?rst twin ice pad facility comprising of two Olympic size ice rinks, one of which transforms into the Capital FM Arena, the biggest entertainment venue in the East Midlands. The National Ice Centre was o?cially opened in April 2000 and the venue was given the royal seal of approval during a visit by HM the Queen on July 31 2002. In 2013, EvoEnergy completed what would be the ?rst of two installations: a 249.6 kWp PV system comprising of 1040 Trina 240W panels on a curved Calzip roof structure, covering the Ice arena section of the roof.
