Case Study ESeal TM Technology Enables Re-entry in Santos Basin Challenge A gas production well had been plugged and abandoned since it was first drilled in 2008 after a hole in the 9-5/8 in. production liner was discovered, through which fluid leaked into the formation. Previous attempts to isolate the damaged casing through cement squeezing had proven unsuccessful. The well was plugged with cement and abandoned for further analyses, leaving all production and completion equipment below the plug, inside the production zone, where high pressure was expected. In 2014, the operator planned to renter the well and isolate the damaged casing to restore production. This would require removal of existing production equipment and installation of new equipment
