CASE STUDY Escalator Barrel Monitoring Crossrail CLIENT: BBMV/CROSSRAIL/MOTT MACDONALD THE CHALLENGE As part of the works being undertaken for C510, two escalator barrels, Number 2 and Number 3, had to be monitored at Moorgate St. Underground Station. The monitoring period planned was c. 9 months, starting at the end of 2014 and finishing in August 2015. The challenge was how to ensure that in such a confined space, precise, reliable and repeatable data was available with all the inherent obstructions. Reporting was required at 6 hourly intervals but able to be reduced remotely and easily if required and if movement seen or anticipated. OUR SOLUTION Measuring changes in tilt of the two escalator barrels was done by using a total of 31 Senceive dual axis
