Case Study
Erosion Control Using Coir Netting And Live Willow
Erosion Control Using Coir Netting And Live Willow The placement of a willow and coir revetment to prevent the erosion of a public footpath This erosion control solution consists of soil held in place by coir netting with live willow sandwiched in between the soil. Traditional willow spiling was not suitable in this location and the site is not accessible to large machinery. Coir netting & live willow revetment Newly seeded topsoil It was necessary to transport soil to the site in stages using a tracked barrow (due to the inaccessible nature of the site). The terraced revetment (see images) was created using live willow rods and coir netting. The coir was filled with scalpings and topsoil. The top of the bank was seeded with grass seed and the area fenced with post and rail fencing.
