Case History A deepwater platform in the Gulf of Mexico was designed to handle 35,000 BOPD (5565 m 3 /d) of 38° API gravity oil with a gas/oil ratio of 4,000. The actual production was projected to surpass 50,000 BOPD (7949 m 3 /d), greatly exceeding the system’s design for gas/oil separation. The operator wanted to use a cost-effective chemical defoamer in order to achieve the 50,000 BOPD production with minimal system changes. Baker H
