Prior to the installation of a wood preparation system ahead of a pelletizing unit, GKC conducted testing to show how the De-Stoner air classifier could be used to remove unwanted heavy material (Rocks). Because this testing indicated that only a small amount of rock was present and some other type of classifier was proposed as an option for the shredder, the De-Stoner was not purchased with the initial system. The De-Stoner-less system was put in and excessive wear is being experienced on both the shredder and cyclone. Too many Rocks remain with the wood. Customer again contacted GKC to reconfirm that most of this relatively small amount of rock could be removed from wood waste feeding the system.
