When built it was the largest U.S. building to receive a GOLD Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) designation from the U.S. Green Building Council. It is the only convention center in the world with LEED® certifications of GOLD in new construction and PLATINUM in existing building. The 1.5 million sq. ft. center incorporates C/S Storm Resistant RS-7305 louvers to stop wind-driven rain from entering the building.
