Covestro aimed to achieve net-zero scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035 through less energy-intensive processes, climate-neutral steam, and recycling. They needed to engineer, test, commercialize, and scale recycled or bio-based polymers while modeling complex thermodynamic and solid processes for feasibility. Leveraging AVEVA Process Simulation and their existing process models, Covestro quickly built and iterated models to assess new processes’ viability. This accelerated green polymer development, established sustainable production approaches, and enabled a circular economy, demonstrating AVEVA’s critical role in innovation and sustainability.
