Royal Ahold aspires to be an environmentally responsible company, and have begun pilot projects to compost organic store waste, resulting in lower disposal costs, better cardboard recycling, and less waste to landfills. In 2013, Albert Hypermarket installed a GG50 to compost fruits and vegetables waste from the produce section.
