Comparing biometric systems An international comparison of biometric techniques may lead to more robust and accurate recognition. The Challenge Biometric technologies are considered essential to improve security in many aspects of life from identifying citizens to protecting new born babies in maternity wards. Current technologies have widely varying error rates, and there are no formal schemes for certifying biometric system performance. Without independent and scientifically credible evaluation, it is very difficult to assess the relative merits of different biometric systems.
