Clutha District Council is a rural New Zealand council with a population of around 17,000 spread across more than 6,000 square kilometres. Clutha District occupies most of the geographical area known as South Otago, with its headquarters in the town of Balclutha. The council is working to promote growth in a sustainable way, and its main industries are farming, forestry, and, more recently, tourism.
